
RCFE Administrator Certification Program
This is the official State of California accredited 40 hour course of instruction preparing participants to enter the profession of providing residential care to the elderly (also known as assisted living), and successfully complete the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) Administrator Certification Examination. This program includes all nine areas of the newly revised RCFE 40-Hour Initial Certification Core of Knowledge including Law and Regulation, Business Operations, Psycho-Social Needs of the Elderly, Alzheimer's & Dementia Training, Management and Supervision of Staff, Physical Needs of the Elderly, Community and Support Services, Medication Management, and Resident Admission, Assessment and Retention procedures. Upon successful completion of this course, you will have learned:
- the purpose of the California Residential Care Facility for the Elderly Act.
- information in the California Code of Regulations, Title 22; Division 6, Chapter 8 that is essential to successfully practice residential care of the elderly.
- how to prepare a basic business plan of operation for a residential care facility for the elderly (RCFE).
- elements that are essential to successfully hiring, supervising, and managing RCFE staff.
- the process of aging and how it impacts upon the physical needs of the elderly.
- how the psycho-social needs of the elderly differ from those of the general adult population.
- the requirements for the admission and retention of clients into an RCFE.
- the process of assisting clients with medication administration in an RCFE.
- community resource services that are available to elderly RCFE clients and their care providers.
- the elements essential to providing successful care and supervision of residents with dementia-causing diseases.
The fee for this program includes all course materials, a continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon refreshments. Unlike other similar courses, we only admit a limited number of applicants into each of our 40 hour certification courses, generally 15 or fewer. This is done in order to assure the highest quality of an individualized educational experience. For this reason, we are unable to offer refunds, cancellations, or substitutions.
